Dominican Mission

Every year since 2005, the doctors of the Center for Women’s Health have joined a very talented and energetic medical team and participated in a medical mission to the Dominican Republic. The physicians and staff at the Center for Women’s Health have helped the mission grow from 15 participants to over 75 medical and non-medical support staff . The yearly mission is an independent non-profit agency, the Dominican Dreams Foundation, dedicated to bringing medical care to those in dire need in the Dominican Republic.

The physicians and nurses provide general medical care to over 4,000 patients over a 9 day period. The patients are of all ages and are tremendously appreciative of the care and medicines they receive from the team. The doctors visit many villages in the northern region of the Dominican including Monte Llano, Cabarete, and Puerta Plata. The clinics take place in churches, schools, firehouses, and even in the streets of the villages. 

Taking part in such an amazing mission is a gift not only for the people of the Dominican, but also for the physicians and staff members who participate. The work is rewarding and the patients are extremely grateful for all they receive. Working with those less fortunate has given all of the participants a deeper sense of who they are and has reaffirmed their calling to the medical profession. The physicians are thankful to have the opportunity to participate in this great mission.

The physicians and entire medical team appreciate any support that is offered from the community. Donations of money, clothing, food, medical supplies, or household items can be made at the Center for Women’s Health. The team is also looking for anyone interested in participating in future missions to join on and help make the mission even more successful! Medical training is not necessary, as there are many jobs to be done and everyone has a skill we could certainly tap into! Please ask anyone at the Center for Women’s Health for more information.
